(Anyone get the Green Day reference?... oh yeah, I'm that old.)
Today was our first day back at school after the winter break. It was actually a pretty good day. I was expecting it to be more like pulling teeth to get the kids motivated, but they were pretty subdued and content today. I really do like my class and it has been a fun to watch their growth the first half of the year. This is by far the most challenging class I've ever taught... but it's also the most rewarding. There's nothing like seeing the light bulb go on as a little mind has that "ah ha" moment or the random sticky hugs you get through out the day from the exact little stinker that's driving you crazy. Gotta love it.
HOWEVER... (how many of you saw that coming?) I can't help but long to relive the days of the break that we spent in our pj's at home, store hopping to finish our shopping, enjoying family and friends, and living at a much slower pace. I want to go back, but I can't. So I guess I'll settle for looking forward. What else can you do? Hey, Martin Luther King day is just a couple weeks away! Then the little light bulbs and sticky hugs will be Naiya and Eva's. My favorite! :)
