I know that everyone has it rough. I know that there are challenges in every one's life. I know complaining doesn't make it better. I'm not complaining, I'm just sayin'...
In the last few weeks...
We had the tragic and unexpected death of a beloved member of Jared's extended family at the family ranch in Idaho.
We are learning more each day about serious medial challenges that Jared's dad has been facing and probably will be for some time.
There have been activities to plan (by myself) for upwards of 45 kids at a neighborhood 4th of July celebration.
There have been dinners to make and kids to watch for people having babies, surgeries and other struggles (because dinner and babysitting is all I can do to feel helpful in those instances).
My car got broken into.
Jared got a parking ticket on my car Saturday night. Then, after arguing with the parking officer, was threatened with charges or trespassing... We'll see how that turns out.
We took in a baby bird that couldn't fly and was attacked by a cat only to have it "fly to heaven" last night after the weekend of hourly feedings and such.
I am having a crazy difficult time getting motivated to loose the weight I've been collecting during the school year(s) and end up setting daily goals only to go to bed disappointed each night.
On top of all of this, we really want to move to a safer neighborhood, but Jared is thinking it's time for a complete career change for him because the landscaping and nights at UPS are just too much. So a lot of things are in the air right now.
Today, the girls (Naiya) shut the cat in the guinea pig carrier. Then they put the carrier in my closet. Then they locked the door to my bedroom and shut it.. from the outside. I was just getting ready to leave and had 10 minutes to change clothes (in said bedroom) and get somewhere that took 15 minutes to get to. I tired putting a skewer in the little round hole and pushing/pulling/wiggling/twisting. I used a screwdriver to take the doorknobs off, but the middle portion was still in there and wouldn't release the lock part. I poked. I prodded. I removed pieces. I pleaded. NOTHING worked. 40 minutes of attempting to open the door later and I finally gave in and kicked the door in. (See mom, all of those karate lessons paid off.)
The door cracked and swung open and I seriously fell to pieces. I'm sure it's just everything else culminating over the silly door, but there I was, 30 minutes late, sobbing on the hallway floor. I took a minute to collect myself, washed my face, changed my clothes and told the girls to get their shoes on. Then I went back to my room to grab my purse and saw a sign taped on the door that said this:
"Dear Lucie,
I am so so sory abut my axedint I am sory abaut every thing I did and thank you for all the nice things you'v done in my life.
Love,
Love
Naiya"
So, in the end, I can't complain. I'm really, really lucky. I'm just sayin'.
