Girl's Day Out

We went to the Discovery Gateway Museum today. SOOO fun! I was a little skeptical what with it costing us $36 for me and the two kiddos, but we loved it.
It was a little overwhelming at first. There were several bus loads of school-aged kids there as well, and so much to do; plus we were meeting some friends. We spent a couple hours there in the morning then had lunch and went home for a nap and came back in the afternoon when the school kids were gone. That was MUCH better. The girls weren't getting pushed around and there were more toys and activities to go around. They had a blast.

We saw the Sesame Street exhibit and it was pretty good, but I think most of the stuff was over the girls heads. Naiya loved to press the button that made poop (yes, that is no typo).

They got a chance to get in the helicoptor by themselves.

They got to play with all the blocks.

And had a blast dressing up ...

and playing cars.

Eva cried and cried when it was time to leave each area and move onto the next. Then she would get all excited to do the new thing and would cry again when it was time to leave. She was really bummed out when we left for good and she ended up in the car seat instead of somewhere fun. It was a great day!

Tonight while we were cleaning Naiya's ears with the earring solution, I asked her who she wanted to sing happy birthday to, and she said "The Poop Machine!!" Apparently that is the one memory from today that she will hold near and dear. Good thing, cause I didn't bother to take any pictures of that!

The Sound of Silence

I've thought it through and realized that although it makes for a difficult phone conversation, I prefer it when my house is loud rather than silent. This is just some of what is going on when it is quiet at my house...
Yes, that's Desitin all over her legs, hand, and face. (It's also on her stomach under her shirt.)

I'm not sure how long she was stuck there while I was making dinner, but eventually I heard a soft little "mama 'elp" from the dining room and this is what I found on the bar cart!
She came to me and said, "Look mommy, now I'm pretty like you!" (She's also a big fan of using cover-up as lip gloss and bronzer all over her face.)

Both Ears are Pierced!

Here's an update on the ear situation:
I called Claire's on Thursday and was told to drive back to the store we origianlly went to the next day (which would be Friday) and have them repierce the ear. So we drove back up to the Park City Outlet Malls on Friday moring only to be told that I had to wait another 2 days before repiercing the ears.... and apparently it could be done in Salt Lake too.
Today, we went to Fashion Place and they did it for us with no problem. Naiya was stoked because she got two lollipops- one while we were waiting for the lady to finish someone else, and one after everything was over. So finally it's done, and both mother and child (both ears) are doing well!
We have a new nightly traditon where we sing happy birthday to someone, or something while we clean the earrings. Every night she's been choosing someone we saw that day or something we did that day. Sunday night we sang to the candy that the Easter Bunny left. Tonight we sang to the new earring. Fun stuff!

Spaghetti Night

I realize that this is the second of two pictures of Eva where her face is covered with food. Still I couldn't resist posting this!

The piercing of the ears...ear???

As many of you know I have been wanting to pierce Naiya's ears since she was a baby. (Okay really I've been wanting someone else to do it for me so that I don't have to be the bad guy!!) First I thought she was too little, then I was worried that she would pull on her ears too much, then I thought I would wait for Eva to be big enough to want it too.... The list of excuses is endless.

For Christmas they both got beautiful pair of gold and diamond earings from a family friend, and that planted the seed in Naiya's mind. Those of you who know Naiya she doesn't let things go easily. She may forget for a bit, but there is always something to remind her. She kept asking for them. So yesterday, when we walked by a Claire's in Park City, I decided to do it.

She was soooo brave. She knew it would hurt a little, but wanted it anyway. Of course she picked the "blue like Thomas (the train)" earrings, never mind they are the September birth stone. She barely winced with the first one and was ready for the second one. Cool as a cucumber. (I, however, could feel my pulse race.) To top it off they gave her a lollipop when it was all over. When we left the store, she walked a little taller and had a big proud grin on her face.

She loves them!

Fantastic... until this morning when when she woke up and one earring was missing!! It fell out! Of course this happens the one day in the year that I am taking a day-long tax class and Jared is watching the girls. We tried to get it back in before I left, but it didn't go smoothly and she started to cry. Poor thing is going to be scarred for life. I don't even know if I can talk her into going back to get it re-pierced. I almost want to just take the other one out and chalk it up to a loss, but she wanted them so bad, and those suckers aren't cheap! I'm all stressed that it will fill in and leave scar tissue and her little ears will be messed up or something. Thank goodness I didn't do Eva's too. I feel like the worst mom ever. I guess I'll just see how she feels about it tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Moral of this story: I am an adult and I shouldn't let my 2 year old talk me into stuff!! :)

Tiny little footprints!

*I apologize in advance for what a cheesy dork I am.*
The Leprechauns popped in for a visit last night, and the little stinkers left tiny green foot prints all over the house.

Were we ever surprised to find that they also turned some of our food green!! The girls are loving it. It's was easy to get them to eat extra veggies at lunch today too!! :)

We all wore green today, but I must admit Eva had the most!

Hope you all had a great day!

Can talking it out make you happy?

I've been meaning to start blogging for a really long time, but haven't gotten around to it. I honestly don't think I'll be blogging that often, but I figure once I blog once I can finally add the exciting title of "blogger" to my resume, plus I'll have a place to look back at those funny stories about my the girls. Okay so here goes... wish me luck:

I've been trying to get a family picture (a real one, not just a snap shot) of us for quite a while. The last one we had was not only unflattering but it was also missing our cute little Eva!! The day finally arrived. I'd been working in Park City and Jared drove up to the house to meet us and drive to Tara's studio. (Tara is my employer and photographer.) So it's time, kids are clean, hair is done, outfits are coodinateed, Tara's kids are ready and have packs to keep them entertained, and all the kids have been feed just enough sugar at just the right time to keep them happy through the photo shoot.
Of course as it's dumping outside because that's my luck, but we get everyone there and ready and Tara says, "O.K., where did you put the camera?" (Oh yeah, did I mention that she had been out running errands and it was my responsibility to grab her camera from her office at home.) Oops!! So yeah, no pictures yet.
Naiya took it especially hard as she had spent most of the day looking in the mirror practicing her best smiles. In the car ride on the way down the canyon she was crying and Jared was doing his best to cheer her up with all the fun things she was going to be doing at her Neema's house (my mom). Our cute little two year old girl stopped crying, took a deep breath and said, "Dad, all this talking is not going to make me happy."
Jared's talking may not have made her happy but her talking sure did make us burst into laughter. Should we be worried that our two year old is already putting up this much attitude? She is too smart for my own good.
