My Loony Toons

Jared got the girls a "Loony Toons" video. Not my first choice for a 2 and 3 year old, but they (especially Naiya) LOVE it. Yesterday shortly after breakfast, Naiya came to me and asked me to peel a whole carrot for her. She wanted to eat a carrot like Bugs Bunny. (Suddenly I'm liking the video a little more.) I give her the carrot and she happily starts nibbling on it. Eva walks in the room and Naiya says "Eh... What's up Doc." In it self, that would be funny enough, but then Eva turns around in her "monster" voice and says "Say your prayers, Rabbit." I almost peed my pants laughing. I love these two!!!

Seattle

It's been a few weeks since I had my first mommy break for more than a night... and also the first time I've been in a separate state from my girls. I guess it's time I filled you in. I won't lie. I cried. The girls on the other hand, were fine. I must admit that Eva seemed a little confused as to why I was getting out of the car at the airport she wasn't. Naiya, however, couldn't get me out of the car fast enough.

It was great to see my friend Courtney (whom I LOVE), celebrate her 30th, meet some of her friends, spend some time in Seattle (which I LOVE), and to have a break. We honestly didn't do too much. In fact I only took 5 pictures. Here's some of what I got:

There was good food, good company, and good fun. Thank you to Nee-ma and Pa for taking such good care of the girls while I was gone and for the great early b-day gift (the trip). Thank you to Courtney for turning 30 and showing me a good time. Thank you to Monkey(the cat) for keeping me warm by sleeping on my bottom each night I was there. Thank you to Jared for letting me go! Maybe we'll make it an annual trip (what do you say, Nee-ma and Pa?! ;)

Memory Card Full

I went to take a picture today and was surprised to receive the message "memory card full" when I turned the camera on. After all, I had just downloaded all the pictures and cleared the card before my Seattle trip. So, I flipped the switch to view my photos. There were random pictures of a bag of chips, mommy's hind-end, daddy sleeping on the sofa, people's feet, the floor, the kitchen cabinets, the reflection of the flash in the mirror and 27 pictures like this:

I got a job!!!

I don't think many of you even know that I was looking... but I was! :) We decided that it was time for me to go back to teaching and put the girls in preschool. Last week, I was able to kill two birds with one stone. (Wait... I hate that saying... let's say I was able to have 2 pieces of cake on one plate. Much better!)
Last week I was offered (and accepted) a position teaching a kindergarten and first grade split class back at the private school I taught at before I had Naiya. The extra good news is that the girls will be able to go to all-day preschool there for free!!! (They will even take Eva next year although she will not be 3 until the end of September.) It will be so comforting to have them close by.
I'm thinking it will be an exciting, hectic, and an all around "buckle up and hold on tight" crazy kind of year. Should be fun. Wish me luck!!

What Would You Do?

I know I haven't posted anything about my trip to Seattle, and I promise I will (later), but...
While I was gone my parents took my girls to a BBQ. At said BBQ there was a cute little toddler who Eva referred to as the "baby" and whose mom was expecting her second child. Apparently they were hanging out with the mom and her son for most of the BBQ and something must have rubbed off. Upon my return, the girls spent the first 3 days stuffing animals, dolls and all sorts of things up their shirts and then would pull them out "having a baby" (or two, or three, or four). They thought this was hilarious. I think it's funny too because they have been around friends of mind who were pregnant quite a bit and never made a big deal about it.
Now, flash forward a couple of weeks. Today, we were at the grocery store (again) and as I'm pushing the cart, my cute Naiya in a very excited and LOUD voice yells out "Look mommy they are having a baby!!!" But alas, not so much! Now I have to point out that in the last two weeks, we have come accross SEVERAL pregnant ladies (we do live in Utah, after all) and not a once did either child say anything. Why, then did she choose this time when the person was NOT pregnant? I may never know. What does one do is such a situation?! I chose to quickly change course and in a hushed voice explained that not everyone who has a belly has a baby in it and that that isn't really something we talk about in public unless we know the person and KNOW that they have a baby in there. Yikes! So now I want to know, in this situation, what would you do?

A Tea Party

On Saturday morning we went downtown with my friend Amber to see what was going on for the Pride Day celebration. Apparently not much was going on that day until late in the afternoon. So instead we had a tea party. We went to the Beehive Tea House and chose our own cozy little room where we enjoyed pouring tea from tiny tea pots and eating yummy flower shaped sandwiches. We finished it off with flower shaped cookies. It was a real princess experience!

Afterward we went to Memory Grove. I haven't been there in probably 7 years! We took a little hike up along the creek. It was beautiful. Unfortunately, I left my camera in the car so the only pictures I have of that are mental images. Lots of fun. I hope to spend a lot more time there this summer.
