Soooo... I have been so caught up in my "Teach Your Tots" blog, tutoring, purging stuff from my house, earthquake prep, and Eva's birthday (this weekend) that I sort of overlooked something big. REALLY big. Our 5th anniversary is this Friday! It totally snuck up on me. I was planning on doing our wedding album (no, I still haven't done that, don't judge me) and giving it to Jared as a gift. That SOOOO didn't happen, and at this point I don't see how I could possibly get it done. Maybe for Christmas (with a little help from you scrap booking experts out there!). So what do I do now? We are buying a new kings size bed to replace our sad queen. That will be the big gift. But I want to do something nice to surprise him too. I thought about refinishing our dresser and end tables and getting a cute bedding set for the new bed. I don't know if he will want to give some input into the bed set though. Anyone have any ideas that are slightly easier to finish in just a few days keeping in mind that I am tutoring this week and will have my girls all the time too. Come on ladies (and gents if there are any reading this) help me out. I know y'all have some great ideas.
B.T.W. I know Jared only reads the blog when I pull it up for him on the computer so I'm not worried about spoiling the surprise.

Ahhhh!
Relief! I feel so much better than I did the last time I posted. Today I went and got my hair done and then got to go out with some girlfriends to dinner. How long has it been since I've been away from the girls for more than an hour or two? Waaaay too long. I feel so much better now. I know that, when we all wake up tomorrow, I will be a better mom. Thank you to my mom and dad for watching the girls today during my hair appointment and to my cute hubby for watching them this evening. I don't know what I would do without afternoons/evenings like this (and the wonderful family members that helped make it happen!)

Is it just me?
So, I knew as soon as I opened my eyes this morning that it was going to be one of those days. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was sleeping on the floor in the girls room with a cat on my head. Maybe it's because I knew I had to have Mister Sophie to the vet by 7:30 to get him neutered. Maybe it's because Naiya was telling me that her diaper leaked all over her bed AGAIN. Maybe it's because Eva had been up most of the night coughing. It could be any of these things. It's one of those days that I wish I could rent a nanny for the day... not so that I can get lots done, (although I have those days too) but so that I can do NOTHING. How fabulous would it be to have one day when you don't HAVE to do a single thing. Anyway, the tone was set and so far that's how the day is going. As I type, for instance, I can hear the girls fighting in their room. Now I hear them running for the gate on the top of our stairs both screaming "MOMMMMMMYYYYY!" at the top of their lungs. Yeah, I'd better go. Wish me luck getting through the rest of the day. Hope your day is going better than mine!

Stuck
Now we have 2 cats.

Poor thing, I made her stay in there a minute until I could grab the camera to take a pic.

So, yeah....
We totally have a cat. Raise your hand if you didn't see that coming. That's what I thought. No micro chip and we checked with the local shelters and nobody claimed him; plus the girls LOVE him so, there ya go. Yes his name will still be Sophie, but we are getting him neutered on Friday, so he won't be much of a boy anymore anyway. ;-)

House Guest

Meet our house guest... well yard guest really. His name is Sophie. (Yeah, I said HIS). He arrived at out back door yesterday and after a day of the girls playing with him outside, it looks like he's decided to stay. We took him to the vet, but he didn't have a micro chip, so we'll put up some posters around town and see if anyone claims him. For now the girls are enjoying having an extra long "play date" with him.
